Automatic Remix in BeatMind: Preview, Approve and Download Stems

Arrange reference stems into a remix preview, change section order and tempo, listen before approving, and download aligned audio in BeatMind.

BeatMind's Automatic Remix turns separated reference stems into an audio preview using the section order, repeats, tempo and layer levels you choose. You listen, decide what to change, and approve the exact preview before downloading its aligned stems.

This is a stem-arrangement workflow, not a generator of replacement instruments or a reconstruction of the original producer's effects. In this release, automatic placement of the approved remix into Ableton is disabled. Preview rendering, review and stem downloads are available without changing your Live Set.

Start with a ready reference

Open BeatMind, choose References, and select a reference whose upload and analysis have finished. Review its stems and confirm the timing map first. A detected tempo or section boundary is a proposal until you have checked it against the music.

Automatic Remix currently needs source stems stored with the reference on the server. A separation that exists only on your Mac is not silently uploaded. Reference access also depends on your plan; check current plans or your account before starting.

Choose Automatic Remix, next to the existing guided remix option. The two workflows serve different purposes: guided remix records a production brief, while Automatic Remix renders the selected existing stems into a playable preview.

Choose a small musical change first

Set a remix name and target BPM. Reorder sections, repeat a section where useful, and adjust or mute individual stem layers within each section. Tempo changes are limited to 80% through 125% of the confirmed source BPM.

For a restrained first edit, keep the main groove, shorten a long introduction, and reduce one busy layer during a breakdown. This gives you something specific to judge. It is easier to compare a clear structural decision than several unrelated changes at once.

Changing the tempo preserves pitch as part of the rendering process, but stretching and separated stems can still produce artifacts. Listen closely to transients, vocal consonants and sustained notes.

Render and listen before approval

Confirm that you have the rights needed to use the source, then choose Render preview. Wait for the rendered audio rather than treating an accepted request as a completed remix.

Play the preview and check three things:

  • Do the section transitions land where you expect?
  • Does the balance still make sense when the bass and drums play together?
  • Are there clicks, separation bleed or stretching artifacts that need another revision?

The preview includes duration and measured loudness information. Those measurements help identify technical problems; they do not certify that a mix is musically finished or professionally mastered.

Use Request changes or Revise choices and render a new preview when necessary. Each saved preview is a separate listening decision. Approval belongs to the audio you actually reviewed, not to a different render with the same name.

Approve and download

After listening, select Approve preview, then Download aligned stems. Keep the audio files together. They share a timeline so you can place them at the same starting position in a DAW for further work.

Saved previews and their review status remain associated with the reference. Reopening the workflow does not itself request another render. The current limit is five preview renders per reference, so make each revision deliberate.

Downloading stems does not establish publication rights. Use your own material or obtain the permissions required for your intended use. BeatMind records your attestation; it does not verify a licence or grant rights to someone else's recording.

FAQ

Does Automatic Remix create new instruments?

No. It rearranges existing separated stems and changes section repeats, layer levels and tempo. It does not replace the source with newly composed instruments or recover the original effects chain.

Will approving a preview change my Ableton project?

No. Automatic Ableton import is disabled in this release. Approval saves the review decision and enables the aligned-stem download; it does not write to your Live Set.

Can I revise a remix after approving it?

Yes. Revise the choices and render another preview within the reference's render limit. Listen to the new audio before approving that version.

Is a remix the same as an original track inspired by a reference?

No. A stem remix retains source audio. A reference-inspired original uses the reference to discuss musical ideas and builds its own parts. Read reference tracks versus stem remixes before choosing a workflow.
